Golf on the Garden Island of Kauai
Princeville is built around golf
In collaboration with nature, Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed 45 of the most beautiful tropical holes of golf in the world: The Makai Course and the Prince Course. Architect Jones said,

'In all the world, I never expect to find a more spectacularly beautiful place to build a golf course than Princeville, overlooking Hanalei Bay!'

Prince Course
The Prince Course is the true golfer's dream. Golf Digest ranks The Prince Course #1 in Hawaii. From the back tees, it is Hawaii's most challenging golf course with a USGA course rating of 75.3 and a 145 slope. Spread out over 390 acres directly on the Pacific Ocean, this world famous course winds up and down hills, through jungles, along clear streams, and over deep ravines. The Prince Course just completed a multi-million dollar update under the guidance of famed course designer Robert Trent Jones, Jr., and owner, The Montage Group, an organization dedicated to the ne plus ultra of lodging and recreation.

Makai Course
After a complete re-design under the direction of Robert Trent Jones, Jr., The Makai Course (formerly Ocean & Lakes) 18 holes is in championship shape, with new traditional sand bunkers, lengthened, all new greens, fairways, tee boxes, all new carts, pro shop, and more coming. The Woods is now a 9 hole course ideal for a short golf outing and at attractive prices.

Kama'aina green fees
More good news, perhaps the greatest golf bargain in the world: Princeville Homeowners pay 'Kama'aina' green fees of only $65 for Makai and as low as $55 for Prince, including carts and range (subject to change). There are no club fees, dues, or membership. All Princeville courses are public, as are Wailua Golf Course (County of Kauai owned), Kauai Lagoons, Puakea, Poipu Bay, and Kiahuna. One course, Kukui'ula in Poipu, is private and quite expensive.

Kauai offers the best in challenging golf in beautiful settings with views of mountains and ocean. All courses have special discounts for residents of Kauai who show a Hawaii drivers license. Princeville has even lower rates if you are a resident of Princeville and have the Princeville Golf Club ID card (for a modest annual fee, they carry your GHIN handicap records). Amazingly, you can get a tee time easy, often the same day.
